                                     The Goose is Loose!

“THE WILD GOOSE IS LOOSE PROJECT”

was begin in our parish on in April and continues until all 14 video segments are seen. Please check Thursdays in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church bulletins for the dates they are presented. If you can’t attend all, you may attend those you can. Each can stand alone. As I have been meeting with my Harrisburg Diocesan Pastoral Team for Charismatic Renewal at the Diocesan center, as the Bishop’s Liaison for Charismatic Renewal, I heard time and time again these leaders praising this project as it had been presented in their parishes.

So now you are curious!  What is this about?

Ancient Catholic Celts described the Holy Spirit not simply as a Dove but also as a “Wild Goose”.  Jesus said you cannot contain the Holy Spirit for the Holy Spirit is like “the wind that blows where it will” Jn 3:8, and so the Celts knew how challenging it was to get hold of wild goose. Fr. Dave Pivonka T.O.R., from the Franciscan University in Steubenville OH, developed the project. These short video segments are “life changing”.  I will give each participant a free study guide to help reflect on these beautiful and powerful video clips. See you there, Fr. Frank

What is the key to this new Pentecost?

Today I would like to extend this invitation to everyone. Let us rediscover dear brothers and sisters, the beauty of being baptized in the Holy Spirit; let us be aware again of our baptism and our confirmation, sources of grace that are always present. Let us ask the Virgin Mary to obtain a renewed Pentecost for the Church again today, a Pentecost that will spread in everyone the joy of living and witnessing to the Gospel. (Pope Benedict XVI Regina Caeli, May 2008) (p 4).

Come Holy Spirit and kindle in us the fire of your love and power. Lord Jesus, baptize us anew in the Holy Spirit so that we might be empowered witnesses of the New Evangelization in our day.
